Christopher Friedt afc59112a9 device: support for mutable devices
Add support for mutable devices. Mutable devices are those which
can be modified after declaration, in-place, in kernel mode.

In order for a device to be mutable, the following must be true

  * `CONFIG_DEVICE_MUTABLE` must be y-selected
  * the Devicetree bindings for the device must include
    `mutable.yaml`
  * the Devicetree node must include the `zephyr,mutable` property

Bjarki Arge Andreasen 28f5f2d1ed drivers: Add GNSS API public header
This commit adds the public header for the GNSS API, along
with the initial GNSS Kconfig file and an entry in the
common linker file for registered GNSS data callbacks.

A very naive implementation of the GNSS data callback is
provided as well in drivers/gnss/gnss_publish.c

Rodrigo Peixoto 7e44469dcc zbus: improve the way of storing observers
ZBus stores observers in two ways: statically using a list and dynamically
using a memory slab. Both present limitations. Static observers work only
for channel definition. The dynamic observers rely on a memory slab that
forces the user to manage its size to avoid issues with adding
observers. This commit fixes the static allocation problem by using the
iterable sections for allocating observation data and replacing the VDED
execution sequence since now it is possible to prioritize static observer
execution. All the runtime observers are dynamically allocated on the heap
instead of a specific memory pool.

BREAK changes (only internal, not APIs):

* ZBus channel metadata changed. Remove the observers' static array
pointer. Rename the `runtime_observers` pointer to `observers`. Add
`observer_start_idx` and `observer_end_idx`;
* Change the VDED execution sequence. The position (on definition time),
the priority in conjunction with the lexical order, is considered for
static post-definition time observers. At last, the runtime observer
follows the adding sequence;
* Replace the `CONFIG_ZBUS_RUNTIME_OBSERVERS_POOL_SIZE` with
`CONFIG_ZBUS_RUNTIME_OBSERVERS`.

New APIs:

* New iterable section iterators (for channels and observers) can now
receive a user_data pointer to keep context between the function calls;
* New `ZBUS_LISTENER_DEFINE_WITH_ENABLE(_name, _cb, _enable)` and
`ZBUS_SUBSCRIBER_DEFINE_WITH_ENABLE(_name, _queue_size, enable)` that
enable developers define disabled observers. They need to be enabled
during runtime to receive notifications from the bus;
* `ZBUS_CHAN_ADD_OBS` macro for adding post-definition static observers of
a channel.

Important changes:

* Move the ZBus LD file content to the `common-ram.ld` LD file. That was
necessary to make ZBus compatible with some Xtensa and RISCV boards.

Grzegorz Swiderski e4de669bed Revert "cmake: linker: arm: put RAM sections in RAM region"
This reverts commit f5eada5553.

Fixes #57590.

In order to fix incorrect program headers with CMAKE_LINKER_GENERATOR,
issue #59064 needs to be addressed first. Until then, revert to the
status quo from several versions back.

Keith Packard bbec614b78 cmake/linker_script: Fix cmake linker scripts to define _end
The generated scripts don't include a definition for any symbol indicating
the end of statically allocated memory (such as "_end"). Add a shared cmake
fragment, ram-end.cmake, which contains the necessary instructions to
define _end and z_mapped_end consistently to align with the other sample
linker scripts.

Gerard Marull-Paretas 48b201cc53 device: make device dependencies optional
Device dependencies are not always required, so make them optional via
CONFIG_DEVICE_DEPS. When enabled, the gen_device_deps script will run so
that dependencies are collected and part of the final image. Related
APIs will be also made available. Since device dependencies are used in
just a few places (power domains), disable the feature by default. When
not enabled, a second linking pass will not be required.

	2) cann set_sensitivity
Implement sensing_get_config():
	1) call get_interval
	2) call get_sensitivity

Yuval Peress ed380de152 sensors: Add new async one-shot reading API
Add a new async API based on the RTIO subsystem. This new API allows:
1. Users to create sampling configs (telling the sensor which channels
   they want to sample together).
2. Sample data in an asynchronous manner which provides greater control
   over the data processing priority.
3. Fully backwards compatible API with no driver changes needed for
   functionality (they are needed to improve performance).
4. Helper functions for processing loop.

Kumar Gala f5eada5553 cmake: linker: arm: put RAM sections in RAM region
Cleanup RAM layout so that the RAM_REGION is now in the RAM memory
region.  Put .bss in RAM_REGION.

This means we have a proper program header for the RAM region.

As part of this extend zephyr_linker_symbol to allow it to take
an OBJECT paramater to specify the region to associate a symbol to.

Tom Burdick e3d877f811 rtio: Userspace support
Add support for userspace with RTIO by making rtio and rtio_iodev
k_objects. As well as adding three syscalls for copying in submissions,
copying out completions, and starting tasks with submit.

For the small devices Zephyr typically runs on one of the most important
attributes tends to be low memory usage. To maintain the low footprint of
RTIO and its current executor implementations the rings are not shared with
userspace. Sharing the rings it turns out would require copying submissions
before working with them to avoid TOCTOU issues.

The API could still support shared rings in the future so that a
kernel thread could directly poll, copy, verify, and start the submitted
work. This would require a third executor implementation that maintains its
own copy of submissions similiar to how io_uring in Linux works.

vendor and model name, for all enabled sensor driver instances. This
will be used by the future sensor subsystem to enumerate all available

Gerard Marull-Paretas e42f58ec94 init: s/ARCH/EARLY, call it just before arch kernel init
The `ARCH` init level was added to solve a specific problem, call init
code (SYS_INIT/devices) before `z_cstart` in the `intel_adsp` platform.
The documentation claims it runs before `z_cstart`, but this is only
true if the SoC/arch takes care of calling:

```c
z_sys_init_run_level(_SYS_INIT_LEVEL_ARCH);
```

Which is only true for `intel_adsp` nowadays. So in practice, we now
have a platform specific init level. This patch proposes to do things in
a slightly different way. First, level name is renamed to `EARLY`, to
emphasize it runs in the early stage of the boot process. Then, it is
handled by the Kernel (inside `z_cstart()` before calling
`arch_kernel_init()`). This means that any platform can now use this
level. For `intel_adsp`, there should be no changes, other than
`gcov_static_init()` will be called before (I assume this will allow to
obtain coverage for code called in EARLY?).

Anas Nashif e8395351e6 kernel: init: introduce a new init level: ARCH
We have cases where some devices needs to be initialized very early and
before c_start is call, i.e. to setup very early console or to setup
memory. Traditionally this would be hardcoded as part of the soc layer
and not using device model or the init levels.

This patch adds a new level ARCH, which will be called in early
architecture code and before we jump to the kernel code.

Yuval Peress 84dfb8edf8 ztest: allow asserts anywhere
Updates the ztest_test_fail() function to allow failures in setup.
When executed, a failed assert will fail every test in the suite owning
the setup function. This was verified by adding a suite which asserts
in the setup function and has a test that should pass. During
exeuction, ztest marks the test as failing.

In order to verify exection I also added 2 new APIs:
- ZTEST_EXPECT_FAIL(suite_name, test_name)
- ZTEST_EXPECT_SKIP(suite_name, test_name)

Carlo Caione bc72fb67b1 linker: Create sections from zephyr,memory-region nodes
Currently when a node has a 'zephyr,memory-region' compatible and a
'zephyr,memory-region' string property, a new memory region is created
in the linker script.

Having a memory region without a section to place variables in could be
not that useful. With this patch we extend the memory-region mechanism
to also create sections.

The user can then place variables in the sections as usual by using for
example the GCC attributes.

Torsten Rasmussen a03e7df9f5 cmake: linker generator replace % with @ for symbol referencing
Fixes: #41435

The use of %<symbol>% works well in Linux and MacOS but when passed
to the linker script generator in Windows the %<symbol>% is processed
by the windows shell causing the value to disappear and thus an empty
value inside the generated ld linker script or scatter file.

This is fixed by using the @ character instead of the % character.

Torsten Rasmussen d9f0ca3943 cmake: add ztest_suite_node output section to linker script generator
The commit dee79d2b66 introduced a new
linker output section ztest_suite_node in linker/common-ram.ld but
without updating the corresponding linker_script/common/common-ram.cmake
linker script generator code.

This causes test cases for arm Compiler 6 to fail.

Add the same section to common-ram.ld.
